You also need your parent’s permission to use certain fun features on BarbieGirls.com, like Secret B Chat™ and Super B Chat™.
Conversations are cool! It’s a-ok to involve your parents in all your online activities, including those in the Barbie Girls® world – they can even set up their own parent accounts to update your chat status here! Show them your favorite sites. Share what you do online. And if you’re ever uncomfortable with something that happens online, don’t be afraid to let them know. It’s totally ok!
When you register, you create a screen name and password to use on the site. Because anybody in the Barbie Girls® world can see your screen name, don’t include your real name – or any numbers from your address or phone number. Instead, make up something new, creative, and fun! And never try to impersonate somebody else – that could get you banned from the site!
Never, ever share your password with anyone except your parents – it’s private! And don’t reveal your name, address, phone number, or email to anyone online. If someone asks for your info, tell her no. If she keeps asking, keep saying no and let us know by clicking her character and selecting "report." Remember: No one from BarbieGirls.com will EVER ask for your password, so don’t give it out!
Girls can’t give out private or personal info to other visitors at BarbieGirls.com, so don’t even ask!
Treat others the way you wanna be treated. Remember that every screen name has a real person behind it! We review chatting to make sure people are behaving, so make sure everything you chat about is friendly and safe..Never disrupt room conversations, stalk other users, or say anything hurtful or naughty – you could be banned from the site!
Remember, it’s ok to be picky! You don’t have to accept every friend request you get. To add someone to your friends list, click her character and select "add to friends," so you can send each other messages!
Your best friends in real life can become your best friends online, too! Then you can send them messages and online gifts, AND have a Secret B Chat™ in your room! To add a best friend, you both need to own a Barbie Girl™ device. Connect your friend’s Barbie Girl™ to your computer and follow the on-screen instructions.
Also, you both need permission from your parents to use Secret B Chat™. When you’re asked, enter your parent’s email address, and we’ll send them a note to see if it’s okay.
There are three kinds of chat in the Barbie Girls® world - B Chat®, Super B Chat®, and Secret B Chat®. You and your friends need to have the same chat level to play in the same Barbie Girls® world. With regular B Chat™, you can talk to anybody! Just click on the chat bubble at the bottom of the screen, pick a category, and select what you wanna say. Choose from lots of fun greetings, questions, answers, and expressions!
If you and your friends have Super B Chat™, you can type your own messages to each other. You can use any words we’ve selected and added to our huge list, but anything naughty or unkind will get blocked. If you happen to use a word that’s not on our list (even if it’s not a bad one), it will get blocked, too. Remember, always be super nice to other Barbie Girls®!
If you and your friend both have a Barbie Girl™ device, you can become best friends online and have a Secret B Chat™. Once you’ve both received parental permission to use Secret B Chat™, you can invite your best friend to your room for a private chat. You can use any words we’ve selected and added to our huge list, but anything naughty or unkind will get blocked. If you happen to use a word that’s not on our list (even if it’s not a bad one), it will get blocked, too. But don’t worry - we’re always adding new words!
If anyone misbehaves or makes you feel uncomfortable, click her character and select "report" to let us know. If it's someone you've added to your friends or best friends list, select "block" to keep her from sending you messages. If it's someone in your room, click "ask to leave" to instantly remove her. Don't abuse this safety feature — we take it super seriously! Never report or block someone just to be mean or to play a joke, because they could be banned from playing on the site!
To allow lots of girls to play in the Barbie Girls® world, we’ve created several copies of our stores and hangouts. For that reason, you and a friend might be in the same place at the same time but still not see each other. Your friends need to have the same chat level as you do to play in the same Barbie Girls® world. The best way to connect with your friend is to visit her room. To do that, click the map and click "Rooms." When you see her room name, click to enter!
